Edit: Boy is my face red! Apparently, unbeknownst to me, the PNG optimizer in PSP was set to make white transparent. Which I didn't notice because the background of everywhere these images are mounted (except of course this journal layout) is also white. Problem has been corrected, new images are now in place.
